The NPD Food Deckbuilder report supplies information at the food item and food category level. The following is an example of a typical Food Deckbuilder Report. Each chart is explained in detail.

Chart 1: The general guidelines for sharing CREST® information outside of your company.

Chart 2: The product you are looking at will have a minimum sample size of 250 raw occasions for any given time period. The larger the sample size, the more reliable the data.

The following example is for Total Breakfast-Oriented Foods, however you can purchase a DeckBuilder for the specific product of your choice.

Chart 3: This chart shows the trend in menu importance and servings for breakfast-oriented foods over the past year and by quarter.

Find the answers to these questions:

At the Industry level, are people eating more breakfast foods?

Are breakfast foods growing in menu importance?

Did breakfast items perform particularly well/poorly in any one quarter?

Chart 4: This chart shows how breakfast-oriented foods are being consumed.

Find the answers to these questions:

When are breakfast foods being ordered?

What are the most important dayparts for breakfast foods and are any of them becoming more important to these foods?

Are these foods viewed as portable?

What portion of servings are being taken away from the restaurant?

Chart 5: This chart indicates the type of operators you should be targeting if you are in the breakfast-oriented food market.

Find the answers to these questions:

Is most of the breakfast food volume going through major chains? Are there opportunities with street business?

What are the most important segments for breakfast foods?

Are any of these segments becoming more important to breakfast foods?

Find the answers to these questions:

Are breakfast foods a good fit for my targeted chain?
